Sharing is caring.

Poor Xan has come down with an allergic reaction. The Doctor thinks it is from the stuff she used to get the sticky bandages off when she took the stitches out. We noticed a small area a couple days after the stich removal and thought we would just watch it and see. It has gradually grown, and today is huge, so we called. She now has him on a steroid cream for a week or so, hopefully it works fast.

Dinner tonight, another "skinny" meal from my BFF site Skinny Taste.
Turkey sausage and tomato sauce over pasta.

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb lean Italian turkey sausage, casings removed
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, torn
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup fat free ricotta
  • 16 oz uncooked whole wheat, high fiber or low carb pasta
*Next time we will add a carton of fresh mushrooms, and maybe some bell pepper.

Directions:
Remove the casings from the sausage and saute in a deep skillet. When browned and cooked through, add crushed tomatoes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer on low for about 10 minutes. Add basil and ricotta and simmer another 5 minutes. Serve 1/2 cup sauce over approx 1 cup (2 oz dry) of your favorite cooked whole wheat, low carb or high fiber pasta
1 cup of pasta with 1/2 cup of sauce is 324 calories and 8 grams of fat.
Day 12: Today I am thankful for generous kids. We just went through their 12 1/2 lbs of Halloween candy, and they happily gave up half of it to donate tomorrow!

We had fun sorting it into piles. The bigs got their first lesson on what is primo candy...all chocolate in my opinion, and what is "poop candy"...everything else, again just my opinion LOL.

The troops will be getting 85% of the candy candy, and 40% of the chocolate.
Jericho showing off the bag we put together to donate :)
They were all very happy to share their candy, no bitching or having to persuade them at all...I'm very proud of them :)
The stash they we kept...still more than we need. I wish I was able to help out more :)

  1. I had a rash similar to that from the adhesive to the bandage they used on the epidural. It was more uncomfortable than recovering from a c/s.

    Hope he heals up fast.

  2. Yikes, that doesn't sound fun at all.

The cream seems to be working. We don't like using it on him...but it is working. When I looked up the one she put him on it says not for kids under 12. Hopefully since he is only going to be on it for a short time (fingers crossed) it is fine. Still makes us a little nervous.
