Good journey Gangster.

Today we said a sad farewell to our best Buddy, G. He was a joy to have these last almost 10 years. He changed a lot of minds about Pit Bulls I think...I mean if you didn't love this dog you just hated to hate. What a shinning star he was.

The kiddos got to say their final goodbyes this morning before they left for school. Jason and I took him in about an hour later, didn't think the kids were ready for that yet. We petted, kissed and talked to him until he was gone...the very least we could do to comfort him.

He was ready, he was probably ready a week ago. He had lost another 7 lbs in less than 2 weeks, poor guy was so brave and stoic.

This is how the kids left him when it was time to go to school. A blanket, flower and a picture to remind him of the 4 kids that love him and will miss him. They are such a kind and thoughtful bunch.
Damn this never gets any easier, I have lost too many great friends...why don't they live longer? He is so loved, and will be greatly missed. Good journey Gangster....remember what I told you.
We will never forget you, Love always...your family.

  2. Thanks my friend. We are doing OK...he was really hurting, so it helps to know we gave him peace. Our home feels so empty without him though.
