The good, and not so good.

A little horsing around today. Hayden gave Scooter a little work out...and Dani took Tucker for a bareback spin. My stitches hopefully come out tomorrow...so I don't have to miss all the fun.

His previous home did not think he had ever been ridden bareback...he did amazing!

Bella returned to us a few days ago, she is from our 'B' litter, has been with her family for one year. Husband trained her himself, they originally wanted a Dutchie for home protection. The husband adores her, she is HIS perfect dog...he was very sad to send her back. The reason she came back is because while she adored him she didn’t respect his wife or his 11-year-old daughter...and was having serious possessive issues with her crate. She was growling at the female family members if they ever tried to get her to do anything, not wanting to behave for them, and totally trying to bully them. I guess this was going on for a while, though I was not informed. She played too rough with them, she didn’t respect them at all and when she plays too rough she’s nipped and got the 11-year-old pretty good a week or so before they flew her back to us. She left a normal 8 week old puppy. What I got back is a dog that was allowed to rule the female family members and has been turned into a bullying little jerk. At this point I do not know if her behavior issues can be fixed, right now she is a danger. People that think they want a Dutchie, if I have failed to make it clear, these are smart, powerful dogs. They can be dominate and will try to get the upper hand. You must be the leader, you must be the one in control. You can not allow disrespect to anyone in your household, you need to socialize...it will not "ruin" their protective instincts. You need to nip any issues in the bud. PLEASE seek professional help right away, NOT PetCo classes. Do not wait until you can not control or trust your dog.

Bella and Baya have become the best of friends, they were having some fun at sunset tonight. I really do hope I can feel 100% about her again, but should that not happen and we do have to put her down I know her last weeks will be fun and happy...and under control.
