The kids want these birds plump!

We had a fun day around here. First we stopped for a little shopping. The kids actually agreed on the shopping cart seating arrangement...4 kids 1 cart and no arguing, WHAT?!
The boys loved driving, Xander said it was a fire truck and entertained the whole store with his siren.

When we got home we did a fun bird feeder craft. The age old peanut butter, seed and a pine cone! Why we didn't remember the mess filling up the other feeders made and do this out side I have no idea...but it was fun! In case you have heard the myth that this is deadly to birds, it is debunked here. We made a lot of them, the kids were having so much fun, so we used the reduced sugar peanut butter...we may end up with plump birds but hopefully they won't get diabetes :)

Peanut butter time, hold the jelly please.
The big kids did a great job doing it all by themselves!

Bring on the seeds...and the mess.

We helped just a little to get maximum coverage, and to keep the hand flinging to a minimum. It was a zero makeup day so pardon me LOL.

Good and messy!

Our possible OCD child, who managed to stay the cleanest, wanted the mess off the second she was done LOL
It is a good thing we got so many pine cones from the trip to their school last fall. They wanted to do even more than this but we had to rein them in LOL.

We set them aside and started on our dinner and dessert. Mmmm country fried steak, mashed taters and veggies!

The dessert was amazing...and so easy, I did it myself, and that is saying something :) It is a take on peach cobbler that I found on Pinterest, you can find the rec. here.

You need:
24.5 oz jar of sliced peaches in light syrup
1 package yellow cake mix
1 stick butter (1/2 cup), cut into 16 pieces
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Cook:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Layer ingredients in a 13 X 9 dish, in order starting with the peaches. As is no mixing no preping, NOTHING.
Bake for about 40 minutes.
Serve warm or cold… with or without ice cream.

Delish!

After dinner we went out and hung up the bird, or should I say squirrel, feeders. They are a hit and I am sure they will not last long!
