It is all fun and games, until someone gets burned with hot glue.

A couple of recipes to share today, I will get to the burn injuries later LOL.

Jason made me one of my fave meals today, and I don't even have to have it for breakfast...it is the bomb any time.
Biscuits and gravy, Mmmm Mmmm good!
We tried to lighten up the gravy a bit...came out to about 140 calories and 2 grams of fat per serving (for the gravy...biscuits and eggs extra)....yeah I totally had two servings right there. We could have lightened up the over all meal a little more if we had made those yummy "Skinny" biscuits (leaving out the garlic, parsley and cheese), but I had two tubes of these on hand so we just used them.

For the gravy...
15oz lean chicken breakfast sausage.
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
5 cups fat free milk
pepper to taste

Brown the sausage, then add the flour and cook for another minute.

Pre-warm the milk, then slowly whisk it into the sausage and flour. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until thickened.

Easy peasy, and so good! Next time we will do it with the "Skinny" biscuits.

Jason pulled out a game from our, limited and underused, game closet today. The kiddos had never played this one before, they had a blast...especially since you get to "shoot" the pieces into place. This kept them busy for a good hour!

It is only a 2 person game, but they did really good with sharing. Xan and Lily played first.

We were not really keeping score at this point, but they sure loved when they made a shot!

Jericho and Haddie got to go next.

Little man of course had more fun shooting the rings all over the place than trying to make the shots count.

Flying rings.

Tonight's dinner....OH MY GOODNESS, amazing! A new winner from my Skinny guru, Chicken and mushrooms in a garlic white wine sauce.

The whole family loved this one...Jason already can not wait to make it again! Saying it was a hit would be an understatement.

Ingredients:
8 chicken tenderloins, 16 oz total
2 tsp butter
2 tsp olive oil
1/4 cup all purpose flour (don't use it all...only about 1 Tb actually gets used....use rice flour if gluten free)
3-4 cloves garlic, minced
12 oz sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup white wine
1/3 cup fat free chicken broth
salt and fresh pepper to taste
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Directions:
Preheat oven to 200°.

Season chicken with salt and pepper. Lightly dredge in flour.

Heat a large skillet on medium heat; when hot add 1 tsp butter and 1 tsp olive oil.

Add chicken to the skillet and cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side, or until chicken is no longer pink. Set aside in a warm oven.

Add additional oil and butter to the skillet, then garlic and cook a few seconds; add mushrooms, salt and pepper stirring occasionally until golden, about 5 minutes. Add wine, chicken broth, parsley; stir the pan with a wooden spoon breaking up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Cook a few more minutes or until the liquid reduces by half.

Top the chicken with the mushroom sauce and serve. We served it over pasta, but brown rice would be another option. 2 pieces of chicken plus sauce is 169 calories and 6 grams of fat. I had 3, but if we had a side salad or something 2 would have been plenty...though you wont want to stop at two LOL.

OK, on to the days injury.
I got a little crafty today, and despite a friends warning, got burned for my efforts Hahaha.
I have a bunch of old glass soda bottles, and wouldn't you know it, Pinterest has tons of ideas for them ;)

I had big plans to wrap 3 bottles in twine, after getting one done I have decided to try painting the rest instead Hehehe.

It took a lot more twine and glue than I expected...this was the first of two layers.

It turned out cute, it makes a nice little decoration piece or small vase, but I am going to try paint for the others LOL.
