Sad news today.

I am so sad, Sakari got out of the yard last night and ran away. We fed her around 6pm and when we went to bring her in at 9pm she was gone. Jason drove around for an hour last night looking for her while I put up a lost ad on Craigslist. Today we went to the shelter, called the vets, put up 50 flyers....we even had a search and rescue guy come with his dog to see if they could track her. The dog did find a trail but after an hour following it he lost her scent in a parking lot. At least we didn't find her dead in the road, but I am worried we will never see her again.
We had an awesome friend of ours make up these flyers and posters....I hope they help bring her home. We miss you Sakari!

The S&R team doing it's thing...we followed in a car. It was really neat seeing the dog do it's job.

Getting back from a 2 hour walk putting up flyers.

Xander's first EI session.

The therapist came by for an hour today, we really like her and so do the kids. She was wonderful with Xander, and even let the girls in on anything they wanted to be a part of, even though she is technically coming for just Xander. She came armed with bubbles, books, and a lot of "fun" ways to spur on Xander's speech and involvement. He was actually doing awesome, totally into the exercises, trying to say words, and really just being present. Xan seems to spend a lot of time on his own doing his own thing. Sometimes it's hard to remember to remind ourselves to not spend most of our time with the girls. Because they are so much more interactive and in your face...the squeaky wheel gets the grease ya know?...it's easy to spend a lot of time with them. It was wonderful to see him right in on the action and engaged...I really enjoyed it, can't wait for next week!
The trio love bubbles!

Xan had so much fun in the towel swing!

Hayden story...she cracked me up today. We let the trio play with those freebie diaper wipe cases that come with every box of wipes, they love them, but have started breaking them in half a lot. Hayden brings one to me, I open it and go to hand it back to her but she runs off. Lily was in my lap and when Hayden took off Lily grabbed the case. Hayden saw this and came running back, she snatched it from Lily making her cry and throw a fit. Hayden runs off, with the case, but was back in a flash. The little dear went and found Lily a broken one and tried to pass that off. Lily took it from her, looked at it like "you are giving me this broken crap" and threw it on the floor LOL. Something else funny they have started doing...we fix them a sippy of milk after nap and before bed, they love their milk and always drink it all. It is weird but they have started running from us and refusing to take their sippys. They will run laps around the living room with us chasing them with sippy cup thrusted toward them. I would love to just set it down and do a little "tough love" but with 3 babies I don't think that would work too well. Someone will finish theirs and then, assuming the other poor sippy has been abandoned, will be nice and finish the other one too. Or the kiddo that decided to run from their milk will then want milk when it is not milk time. So for now we chase them and beg them to drink their milk....which I am sure is what they love, the chase :)
A little after nap fun...the girls started trying to blow kisses today, it's so cute.

Play time...they are so silly. Yeah it's February but Jason thought he would get some summer clothes out LOL

Poor O.J. if it's not one kid it's another...Lily found a comfy seat.

Xan is trying to bring the greaser look back.

He had a little too much fun with his very lightly syruped eggos this morning. Jason gave his hair a little wash and had fun making my sweet boy look like a thug :)
One the subject of meal time, we have had some funny incidents lately. I gave Lily a spoon to practice with during lunch the other day, at the end of lunch the spoon had made its way into Xanders hands. Lily must have gave it to Hayden, or had it stolen, and then Hayden passed it on to Xander. They did this little train thing once before, Hayden was closets to the changing table and got into the drawer and was passing anything she could get her hands on to Lily, who was in turn passing stuff down to Xander....see they can share :)

Larry is officially DONE with the remodel, Jason and I have to do some finish up painting but we should be moving in late this week!!!

Birth order trends

The Multiples and More question of the week is about birth order trends.

Multiples come in all shapes and sizes, and each is their own person. It's hard sometimes to not label them or put them in certain categories based on their attitude, temperament or how they interact. I find my self saying "the hot tempered one" when referring to Hayden or "the clingy one" when talking about Lily...and we all know Xander is "the trouble maker" LOL. The truth is they are each these things at one time or another.

Describe your childrens' personalities, in birth order. Xander- is very busy and physical, he wants to climb on everything, move everything, and push stuff over. He is very tenacious and doesn't give up on getting to something he wants. He is a bit more of a loner but does get in on some play time with his sisters, whom he steals from or tackles to the ground at any second. He loves to run around screaming wildly, and he has the best big smiles. He is not a man of many words but is a smart boy, you can see this by all the trouble he finds himself in LOL. Hayden- is a girl on the go, she is very funny and personable, our little entertainer. She smiles all the time...though her fuse is short and she will get mad in the blink of an eye and lash out. She loves to run and dance...she has happy feet. The girl never sits still, she will come up to love on you for about 10 seconds then she is off. She makes great faces and loves to make Lily laugh, she is a total goof. Lily- is a lot more mellow, she won't usually fight over things or lash out...but the little red head has a line and if you cross the line she will come at you. Most of the time she is a cuddle bug and is full of cute little grins and laughs. She is very watchful, and seems to think about things before she acts....sometimes LOL. She craves more attention from adults than her brother or sister do. The girls are both more vocal than their brother, they seem to be forming a strong little sister bond and are often playing together.

Do you think your kids personalities are related to their birth order? No, I really don't think the order they got pulled out during my C-Section has anything to do with their personalities.

Is your baby A any bolder or more dominant than B, C, D? A-Xander and B- Hayden are both very bold and dominant, C- Lily is more passive, but you can only push her so far.

Does your last-born reach milestones last as well? Lily did reach all of the gross motor skills milestones last, but she reached a number of the fine motor skills milestones first.

Are there any characteristics that you feel are somehow related to birth order? I don't think the birth order had much to do with it, I think their inherent personalities dictate who they are and how they act. Xander and Hayden were born only seconds apart and there was a mere 3 oz of weight difference, so it seems as though competition started early with them....and they are both me first kind of kids. Lily was last out by about 2 min and was 8 oz smaller than our biggest baby, she was smaller, weaker and had a rougher start...she is a bit clingy and more chill than her brother and sister.

Do you find that a lot of people like to "classify" your kids? How do you feel about it? Yes, I do think a lot
of people classify them, and to some degree that may be our fault because we do it a little ourselves. However, as the parents with unconditional love and all I haven't been too worried about it, but I think it's time to change that. I am upset a bit when others do it, they don't know the babies as well as we do and I think not only can kids grow into peoples opinions of them...for better and worse, but people can get stuck on their impressions of others as well. I would hate for Xander to be everyones 'Dennis the Menace' simply because he is an active, curious, growing little boy. Labels can hurt and stick with people...I don't want that for the trio...they all have their good points and a few challenges, just like any other kid.

Xander, put the cat down.

First let me say O.J. was not harmed, and the dumb kitty could have ran away at any time, in fact I grabbed him and moved him away twice but he kept coming back for more. Xander really wants to pick O.J. up and walk around with him, the cat is almost as big as Xan...it did not go as he hoped. I will not say O.J. had any fun but to his credit he did not meow, hiss or try to bite even once....he is such a sweet cat.

Our new bedroom is coming along, I don't think we will be finished tomorrow but should be done by Wednesday! It's looking so good, Hayden got to peek in today...this was the look on my face the first time I saw it too LOL.

We got a kitty door put into the laundry room door, the trio thought it was lots of fun :)

How that BUMP made us jump.

I knew it was coming, and today it happened...we have had an escape. I put the trio down for their nap today and about 5 min later heard a huge thump. I went to their room and peaked in the door, this is what I saw....

Xander had climbed out of his crib and was rummaging through the stuff in their room. The girls were screaming and cheering him on...they were probably asking him to pass them stuff LOL.

Thankfully, the trio got crib tents from Grandpa for Christmas. No more escaping for Xander, he didn't know what to think when the tent was up at bed time tonight, but it didn't seem to bother him. Hayden and Lily stared at the contraption on top of Xan's crib with wide 'I wish we could get our hands on that eyes.' We will put theirs up when needed, they are not climbers yet.
