Oh BOY!

Graphic pics.
Poor first timer Tommi. Got two front feet out to the pastern. I felt the head…teeth…above the feet under her tail area. Was perfect position, but she was not getting anywhere. Her baby would not budge. I tried manually dilating her more. Tried pulling. Tried lube around the head. We were not making any progress. Finally I had to push the legs back in and pulled on the head. Lots of lube around the head to help make it slippery. Got the head out, but it still wouldn't come head alone. Fished out one arm. Finally got baby out safe and sound. Huge buckling of course. Poor mom didn't move for a good 30 minutes, but finally got up and started eating. After that workout I would need a meal too.

The ups, and downs on a farm.

More babies today, big twin does for Fergie. Gigi’s triplets came to say hi. Fergie is a rare baby thief and has taken on part time mothering of Gigi's kids.
Single doeling for Oreo. She is lovely!

Babies are great, new life is always so fun. On the other hand the end of a life is never easy. We had to end Heidi’s suffering tonight. After 5 days of around the clock care and zero improvement we decided it was time to not put her through any more. Unfortunately her day old kids are showing signs of infection. I was hoping getting out would be enough. Not sure if they will pull through or not. A very sad family tonight. What a horrible couple of weeks.

Good job Heidi.

Our sick doe Heidi had her triplets, I can only hope having them out will help her recovery. Thus far she has not improved at all. The babies seem to be healthy so far. Since we do not know what is wrong with their mom, I am not 100% sure they will be OK. My stress level can not take much more.

Watched pots and all.

The new triplets seem to be doing well. Really yucky weather expected for the next week, not sure when I’ll be able to get good pics. Cali and Fergi are in a race for who will go next. Poor Heidi is dealing with my first case of pregnancy toxemia. Round the clock meds for her, hoping to pull her through this.

Busy is good.

Just about baby time. First 5 are in the kidding area...I've been watching Gigi like a hawk.
Headed over to the kids Grandma's today for a Bday party the kids threw for her. Decided to get my last proctor for semester 2 out of the way. So happy to have the Pharmacology proctor done, shouldn’t have procrastinated so much on that one.
Happy Bday Grandma! Hayden made her a flamingo cake.

Before heading home we took the young people out to an all ages pool hall. Everyone had fun, even if there were a LOT of sore losers. Lily ended up the big winner this time.

Of course, thanks Gigi. Been watching her for 24 hours, leave for a little bit and come home to new babies. Thankfully it must have been a textbook birth, 1 boy 2 girls were up, dry and nursing when we got home.

A week...

She has been gone a week. Still so unreal and sad. We are carrying on, what else can one do. We miss you so much Boop. My anxiety is starting to settle, I have been so scared the others are going to start getting sick like she did. Thankfully the other 3 have been totally normal...despite feeling sad and missing their friend.

In happier news, Lily got her bowling pics, she has had a really fun time with these kids.

Take what you can get.

When friends are in short supply. You start further exploring your options. Willow is so patient.

Eleven is a very impatient study partner, gotta start hitting the books again.

Distractions are good.

Still just trying to "get back to normal" around here. I find my level of anxiety and stress through the roof, freaking out that the other dogs will start getting sick like Baya. Without really knowing what happened to her, how can I not worry that the others are not safe.
The kids are doing better thankfully, oh to be that resilient still.

Hayden is submitting this for a school bookmark contest. It took her 3 hours to draw it. She tried really hard.

Jericho’s newest favorite books. He is on a mission to read all 5 before schools out, he is almost done with the first one.

Dealing...

It's been such a horrible couple of days. Trying to not dwell today, trying to be happy for our time with Baya and not stuck in the sadness of our goodbye. I can put on a brave face until the kids start crying again. Eleven is missing her friend so much, she’s been crazy clingy.

Heartbroken.

I’m absolutely heartbroken to share we lost Baya this morning. We do not know what happened. She was sick yesterday (Thursday) with blood tinged vomit and refused to eat. I got her into the ER that afternoon, getting in to see a vet is so hard right now...took 7 hours calling around to finally get one with an opening. Unfortunately, they had no luck finding the problem. We transferred her to a 24 hour hospital last night. This morning they called to inform us she was worsening and they still had no answers. Bloodwork, xrays, all fine. She started having grand maul seizures and after the 3rd one they recommended euthanizing her to prevent further suffering. I’m in shock and so very sad. She was the sweetest chillest Dutchie I have ever met and she was a very loved member of our family who will be missed more than I can say. I can’t believe she is gone. We were just chilling in our hotel in ID a few days ago. I am so messed up right now. I can’t stop crying. I just can’t believe she is gone. So hard to lose a great dog. And to have no answers just kills me. Giving my kids bad news like this and hugging them while they cry just breaks my heart all over again. And Eleven looks lost without her BFF. Hug your pups, tomorrow is not promised.

Home just in time.

I made it home from Idaho in time to watch Jericho’s team win, and Xander and Hayden’s team win. Grandma and Great Grandpa came to cheer everyone on also.

Way to go trio, super proud of how hard you work.
