Puppy Breath!

It has been many years since we have had a puppy in this house. As I took the 2 hour drive to go pick out our puppy and bring her home, I was both totally excited and slightly scared. Not only was Gangster an amazing dog, but he was almost 10...no more of that crying at night, pooping in the house, biting with those sharp little puppy teeth, or chewing stuff up crap, heck it had been so long I don't think any of us even remember him doing that stuff at all, though I am sure he did. Hopefully our little darling will make her way through these less fun stages in record time. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be nice LOL.

I had 3 girls to choose from, I had an idea going in that I was going to pick "Pink" but I wasn't positive. That is "Pink" coming to me :)

She is a bold little thing, very confident...which is just what I like in a pup.

She also has very nice body structure.

The litter will be 7 weeks old tomorrow. Most breeders wait until 8 weeks to let you take pups home, but the breeder of these guys is fine with 7 weeks for his litters. He has had a lot of successful dogs come out of his kennel, so we went with it.

The girls got to do a little scent exercise, they all had no problems finding the treats hidden in the compartments.

At this point I still had not officially picked "Pink", but you wouldn't know it...she seemed to be the star of most of my pictures.

She is pretty dark right now, but I think she will lighten up a bit and get more brindle.

OK..."Pink" it is!!
Goodbye, for now, 1st Mom. Dara hand raised this litter from the day of their birth. Nicky, their bio mom, had some hormone issues happen and wasn't able to care for them. Dara fed them every 2 hours around the clock for the first 3 weeks...then she got to stretch the time some as they got older. That was a lot of love...and work.

Goodbye, for now, to the best puppy socialiser, Mr. Logan. I am so glad the pups get to be raised with a child...it is such a service to them, and to the families that take the pups home.

Introducing....
Kitsune de las Flores.
The kids may or may not give her the nick name "Kitty" we will see how it goes with them saying Kitsune first LOL.
This litter was the 'K' litter, so when we picked a name for her it had to start with the letter K. I am a closet 'Teen Wolf' fan...don't judge me, and heard the name Kitsune (Kit-Sue-Nay) on the show. It is the Japanese word for fox, but it also has a whole Japanese magical mythology/folklore story behind it.
From Wikipedia...
"Foxes are a common subject of Japanese folklore; in English, kitsune refers to them in this context. Stories depict them as intelligent beings and as possessing magical abilities that increase with their age and wisdom. Foremost among these is the ability to assume human form. While some folktales speak of kitsune employing this ability to trick others—as foxes in folklore often do—other stories portray them as faithful guardians, friends, lovers, and wives.
Foxes and human beings lived close together in ancient Japan; this companionship gave rise to legends about the creatures. Kitsune have become closely associated with Inari, a Shinto kami or spirit, and serve as its messengers. This role has reinforced the fox's supernatural significance. The more tails a kitsune has—they may have as many as nine—the older, wiser, and more powerful it is. Because of their potential power and influence, some people make offerings to them as to a deity."
Let's hit the road pup pup!

We told the kiddos our family was getting an early gift this year. Jason was waiting for me with a box to surprise the kids.

They were so excited to open the box. Kitsune was totally quiet and still.

Yay a puppy!! Lots of oohs and ahhs...then Xander asked if she was a ferret Hahaha.

Kitsune was an immediate fan of the kids...she took to them instantly, and wanted to treat them like they were her very own siblings.

Too bad for my kids that puppies attack and bite their siblings for fun LOL. We had 2 couch surfers for the rest of the night. Lily and Xander flat out refused to go near the tiny terror with sharp little razors for teeth adorable sweet puppy. We have our work cut out for us...need to train the kids how to handle a puppy, and need to train the puppy on what she can and can't bite. Jason went out and bought her a bunch of toys as soon as introductions were done LOL.

OJ of course was fine...I love our go with the flow cat, poor dude is going to end up in the sibling category though I'm sure. Woosaw had a very brief run in, no hissing but she high tailed it away very quickly. We haven't seen Sunny all night.

Haddie is our bravest child, she is a little puppy whisperer in training. She still panics when the pup latches on with her teeth...but at least she is trying.

So cute!

Jericho is our other brave kid...though he does spend some time on the couch when she gets to be too much. Who can blame him LOL.

Heart melt!!

Kitsune truly adores the kids, she wants to play with them every second.

Hayden played her a little Snoopy tune...I love when pups cock their head and really try to listen.

Lots of trips out side, brrr the one bad thing about getting a puppy in winter. So far two near misses in the house...but we got her out in time. I hope she can at least pick up on the potty training fast...it is too cold out there for this LOL.

She gets annoyed when the kids hide on the couch.

She whines and cries...and even howls, for them to come down and play.

Such a cutie!

Bring on the toys! The toys only helped the kids get over their teeth worries a little bit, I think our next step will be to have her on a leash 24/7 until everyone can learn how to coexist. We can't allow her to grow up thinking she is the boss of the kids and can bully them...she may be a mere 5-8lbs now, but soon enough she will be 50-60lbs and we can't have her thinking she is boss.

She is darling...even with her poor puppy manners, we are thrilled with her. I think I made a wonderful choice :)

I can already tell tonight is not going to go well, she can't stand to be alone...or in her kennel. Hopefully just a few nights of this and she will be over it. She is cute when she falls asleep on your lap though.
G, we miss you, it has been almost 3 months since we said goodbye and not a day goes by where you are not in our hearts and conversations. PLEASE if you can shoot this pup some of your gentle sweetness that would be fabulous. Love you old man.
